Yesterday, their president and CEO Carol Quillen was in attendance at a ceremony just across the river in Athens to present the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society (HALPS) with this designation. The designation and event were designed to raise awareness of the ongoing work that’s occurring to restore and preserve this nationally significant landmark. HALPS board members were on-hand, to talk about the work that’s already occurred, and to discuss their plans for further preservation, as well as to give visitors tours of the lighthouse itself.
