Standing on the balcony, overlooking the vineyard, invokes the notion of the sublime; an idea both philosophical and romantic. It is more than beautiful, it’s exciting. The vineyards are framed by ancient woodlands and wildflower meadows. Respecting this environment is fundamental to our philosophy.  The wildflower meadows surrounding the vineyard are a haven of colour. Field poppers, cornflowers, bird’s-foot trefoil and meadow buttercups emerge between swaying long grasses. This retreat for pollinators provides a moist refuge for frogs, toads and newts. Butterflies, damselflies and ladybirds dance between the seemingly never-ending flowers.  Since the 1930s, the UK has lost 97% of its wildflower meadows. This loss is more than aesthetic, these meadows provide shelter and food for important pollinators including bees. There are more than 250 species of bee in the UK, each playing a vital part in supporting the ecosystem and has a real impact on the food we eat. Our love for wildflower meadows, and the nature they protect, extends far beyond the boundaries of our 400-acre estate. We’ve partnered with the Kent Wildlife Trust to rewild an area of the Kent Countryside as part of our campaign to give back to the earth that produced our beautiful wine.  We’re donating to the Kent Wildlife Trust with every bottle of Nannette’s Rosé 2023.
